Our Story

Hi, I’m Stephen — and Little Tree Psychology started with a simple truth I learned long before I became a psychologist: people just need to feel seen, heard, and safe.

Back when I was a teaching student, I noticed something curious. Even after the bell rang, many students would hang around my classroom. They weren’t looking for extra tutoring or waiting for a ride — they were looking for connection. They wanted someone approachable, someone who would listen without judgment. I wasn’t the “cool” teacher, but I was present, and that mattered.

That experience stuck with me. Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s not just children who need that kind of space — it’s all of us. Like Dumbledore wisely said, just because something is in our heads (or we’re young) doesn’t mean it isn’t real or worth attention.

Little Tree Psychology was born from that belief. The name symbolizes a place where young minds — like little trees — can grow strong, resilient roots. While our beginnings focused on children, teens, and young adults, our branches have grown. Today, we provide compassionate, evidence-based care for people of all ages — individuals, couples, and families.

Our mission hasn’t changed: to create a safe, understanding space where every person’s voice matters, where healing can take root, and where growth is nurtured every step of the way.

What we value

At Little Tree Psychology in Sherwood Park, we understand the unique dynamics of living near a large metro while retaining a small-town feel. Our practice is dedicated to providing expert psychological services in a setting that respects the closeness of our community. We are team oriented, and by virtue, client oriented. We value straightforward, effective communication and personalized care. Each client's journey is important to us, and we commit to supporting your path to wellness with professionalism and empathy.

Camryn Andersen

Communications

I recently graduated from Grant MacEwan University with a background in biological sciences and psychology. I have always had an innate desire to learn about behaviour and the human mind. I am pursuing graduate studies at Yorkville University to further my education in counselling and eventually become a registered provisional psychologist.

I love being a part of the Little Tree Psychology team and educating the general public about mental health and its

importance!
